Comparison · July 2026

Every free waitlist tool has a number on it.

We compared six of them against their own pricing pages — including the places they beat us, and the one that’s as free as we are.

Most waitlist tools advertise a free plan that stops between 50 and 100 signups, and two of the six compared here offer only a trial. Waitlister stops at 100 subscribers, LaunchList at 100 submissions, LaunchHQ at 50; Prefinery gives you 14 days and GetWaitlist 7. The cap arrives on the day the page works — you launch, it goes well, and the tool holds your list behind a paywall on the best day your project has had. Two tools don’t do this. Tally is genuinely uncapped, though it builds forms rather than launch pages. Beautiful Waitlist has no signup cap, no page limit and no trial clock: unlimited signups, unlimited pages, all nine templates and referral links, free. Every published page carries a small “Made with Beautiful Waitlist” badge, and that is the entire deal. Every figure on this page was read off the vendor’s own pricing page in July 2026.

How do the six compare?

Read off each vendor’s own pricing page in July 2026. Where we couldn’t verify something, it says so rather than guessing.

Waitlist page builders compared on what the free plan includes, how many pages it allows, price, designed templates, email sending and referrals. Checked July 2026.

How many signups do you get for free?

Drawn to scale within each group. Some of these tools count your signups, some count your days, and two don’t count.

Counted in signups

  • Waitlister
    100 signups · 1 waitlist, no emails
  • LaunchList
    100 signups · Branding stays until $79
  • LaunchHQ
    50 signups · 1 project, branding stays

Counted in days

  • Prefinery
14-day trial · Trial, not a free plan
  • GetWaitlist
7-day trial · Trial, not a free plan

Not counted

  • Tally
    Unlimited · Really uncapped
  • Beautiful Waitlist
Unlimited · Signups, pages, edits — all of it

What does unlimited actually mean?

Spelled out, because it’s a word everyone on this page uses and most of them mean something narrower by it.

  • Unlimited signups
  • Unlimited pages
  • All nine templates
  • Unlimited edits and republishes
  • Referral links on every page
  • CSV export of your list

Which tool is best for what?

Prefinery

Referral and viral-loop engine

Free plan
14-day trialTrial, not a free plan
Price
$39/moNo free plan · $0.005 per extra user

The category's incumbent, priced like one. Genuinely the best referral engine here — and the only tool on this page where a small list can cost you $39 a month before you launch.

Where Prefinery beats us

  • The deepest referral machinery in the category — rewards, milestones, vanity codes and fraud protection
  • Queue mechanics and position management built for large lists
  • Team seats and campaign management on higher tiers

GetWaitlist

Embeddable widget and API

Free plan
7-day trialTrial, not a free plan
Price
$15/moNo free plan

Built to sit inside someone else's site. If you already have a landing page you like, that's the right shape — and it's a trial, not a free plan.

Where GetWaitlist beats us

  • A developer-first API, if you're wiring signups into something you're already building
  • A drop-in widget for a site you already have

Waitlister

Hosted page builder and embeds

Free plan
100 signups1 waitlist, no emails
Price
$19/moAfter the free plan

The closest thing to us on this page, and the most complete toolkit — email, integrations, surveys. Its free plan stops at 100 subscribers and can't send email.

Where Waitlister beats us

  • Email built in — welcome emails, broadcasts and double opt-in from the same tool
  • Integrations with Framer, Webflow, Carrd, Shopify, Squarespace and more
  • API, webhooks and translations into 30+ languages on higher tiers
  • Surveys, so you can ask signups a question at the same time

Tally

Form builder

Free plan
UnlimitedReally uncapped
Price
$24/moTo remove branding

The one tool here that's as free as we are, and it isn't close on forms. It's also not a launch page — it's a form, and it looks like one.

Where Tally beats us

  • The best free form builder there is — unlimited forms, unlimited submissions, no catch
  • Conditional logic, file uploads, signatures and integrations, all free
  • Far better than us at anything that's genuinely a form — applications, surveys, intake

LaunchList

Embeddable form builder

Free plan
100 signupsBranding stays until $79
Price
$19 onceOne-time, not monthly

Pay once rather than monthly — a real advantage. Form-shaped, and removing their branding means the $79 tier.

Where LaunchList beats us

  • One-time pricing instead of a subscription, which is rare and genuinely nice
  • Fraud detection and email validation on the free plan
  • Referral management included at every tier

LaunchHQ

Hosted page and embed

Free plan
50 signups1 project, branding stays
Price
$9/moAfter the free plan

The cheapest way out of a free tier here, and it does things we don't. The free plan stops at 50 subscribers, and its own pitch for design is "pick a color."

Where LaunchHQ beats us

  • The cheapest paid tier in the category at $9/mo for unlimited subscribers
  • A/B testing and email sequences, which we don't have
  • Launch automation — batch invites when you're ready to let people in

The other side of it

When is Beautiful Waitlist the wrong choice?

We don't send email to your list

No welcome emails, no broadcasts. You get notified of signups and you can export the list as CSV — but if you want to email people from the same tool you collected them in, Waitlister, LaunchList and Prefinery all do that and we don't.

There's no embeddable widget, API or webhook

Beautiful Waitlist gives you a hosted page. If you already have a site and you just need a signup form on it, GetWaitlist or an embed-first tool is genuinely the better answer.

Our referrals are the simple version

Every signup gets a personal link, and referrals move them up the list. That's it. Prefinery has rewards, milestones, vanity codes and fraud detection; if the referral loop is your whole strategy, theirs is deeper than ours.

No A/B testing, surveys or translations

LaunchHQ does A/B tests, Waitlister does surveys and 30+ languages. We do one page, in one language, as well as we can make it.

Questions people actually ask

What is the best free waitlist page builder?

For a hosted launch page with no signup cap, Beautiful Waitlist and Tally are the only two of the six tools here with genuinely uncapped free plans. Beautiful Waitlist gives you a designed page; Tally gives you a form. Every other free plan on this page stops between 50 and 100 signups, or is a trial rather than a free plan.

Which waitlist tools have a truly unlimited free plan?

Two. Beautiful Waitlist has no cap on signups or pages, and Tally has unlimited forms and submissions. Waitlister stops at 100 subscribers, LaunchList at 100 submissions, and LaunchHQ at 50. Prefinery and GetWaitlist have no free plan at all — 14-day and 7-day trials respectively.

What is the cheapest waitlist tool?

Beautiful Waitlist is free with no paid tier to reach. Among paid options, LaunchList is cheapest overall at $19 once rather than monthly, and LaunchHQ has the cheapest subscription at $9/mo. Prefinery is the most expensive entry point at $39/mo with no free plan, plus $0.005 per user beyond 1,000.

Do I need a website to use a waitlist tool?

No. Beautiful Waitlist, Waitlister and LaunchHQ host the page for you, so the tool is the website. GetWaitlist and LaunchList are built the other way round — they give you a form or widget to embed in a site you already have, which is the better choice if you have one.

Which waitlist tool has the best referral features?

Prefinery, by a clear margin — tiered rewards, milestone unlocks, vanity codes and fraud protection, refined over more years than anyone else here. It starts at $39/mo with no free plan. Beautiful Waitlist, Waitlister, LaunchList and LaunchHQ all include simpler referral links on their free plans.

Can these tools email my signup list?

Waitlister, LaunchList, LaunchHQ and Prefinery can all send welcome emails or broadcasts, though each puts it behind a paid tier. Beautiful Waitlist and Tally cannot — you export the list as CSV and email it from somewhere else. If emailing from the same tool matters to you, that rules two of these out.

How did we check this?

Every price and limit on this page was read off the vendor’s own pricing page in July 2026— not off another comparison post, because nearly every comparison post in this category is published by one of the tools in it. We haven’t run each product hands-on, so nothing here judges how they feel to use; the claims are limited to what each company publishes about itself. Pricing changes, and ours is free. If something below is out of date, tell us and we’ll fix it.

No cap, no clock, no credit card.
